About me and this project

My name is Roger Busch and I am a discus thrower.  I threw briefly in high school and all four years in college.  After a forty year hiatus concentrating on “other things” (family and career), I resumed throwing at age 62 in the Masters division.  I was born in 1941, so as I update this page I am in the 80-84 age group.  I feel lucky to still be enjoying every aspect of being an athlete: the training, the competitions and the camaraderie.

I am also a photography enthusiast, something I took up around the same time I started throwing again. Photographers are always looking for good subjects and projects. Photographers are also advised to “Shoot things that are meaningful to you.”  What better subject for me, then, but to photograph the many friends I have been throwing with all these years...and in the process to make new friends as well.  Thus began this collection of Masters Throwers and their Proudest Moments.
